Sunsynk Wi-Fi data logger dongle with connection status lights

Pre-Setup Checklist

Before you start, ensure you have the following:

  • Strong Wi-Fi Signal: If your inverter is in a garage or outside, ensure your home Wi-Fi reaches it (at least 2 bars). If not, a Wi-Fi extender may be necessary.
  • 2.4GHz Wi-Fi Network: Like most smart devices, the Sunsynk logger does not support 5GHz Wi-Fi.
  • Serial Number (S/N): Located on the sticker on the bottom of the silver Wi-Fi dongle.

Method 1: Using the Sunsynk Connect App (Recommended)

This is the easiest method for 90% of users.

  1. Download & Register: Download Sunsynk Connect from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Create an account and verify your email.
  2. Create a “Plant”: Log in, tap the “+” icon, and select Create Plant. Fill in your location and system size details.
  3. Add the Logger: Use the app to scan the QR Code on your Wi-Fi dongle.
  4. Configure Wi-Fi:
    • Go to Tools > Wi-Fi Configuration.
    • The app will ask for your home Wi-Fi name (SSID) and password.
    • Follow the prompts to connect your phone to the logger’s temporary hotspot (usually named EAP-xxxxx).
    • Once connected, the app will push your home Wi-Fi credentials to the inverter.
  5. Verification: The light on the logger should turn from flashing red to a steady green or blue within 2–5 minutes.

Method 2: The “Manual Browser” Method (The Fail-Safe)

If the app keeps saying “Connection Failed,” use this direct method. It bypasses the app’s interface.

  1. Connect to the Dongle Hotspot: On your smartphone, go to Wi-Fi settings. Look for a network named EAP-xxxxx (the x’s match your logger’s S/N).
  2. Enter Password: The default password is 12345678.
  3. Open Browser: Once connected (your phone might say “No Internet,” which is fine), open Chrome or Safari and type 10.10.10.1 into the address bar.
  4. Login: If prompted for a username and password, use admin / admin.
  5. Wizard Setup:
    • Click on Wizard or Wi-Fi Setting.
    • Click Scan to find your home Wi-Fi.
    • Select your network, enter your home Wi-Fi password, and click Save/Apply.
  6. Restart: The logger will reboot and attempt to connect to your router.
